Craig-Martin RA is co-ordinator of this year's Summer Exhibition, leading the
group of Academicians as they select and hang the Royal Academy's annual
celebration of contemporary art.
Leaving New York for England in the sixties, Craig-Martin played a central role in establishing the Conceptual art movement. More recently, he has used bright colours in his art, painting blown-up images of everyday personal objects. Craig-Martin is also a renowned educator and has continued to leave his mark on the British contemporary art scene, having taught at Goldsmiths for many years. Damien Hirst, Gary Hume RA and Sarah Lucas all number among his protégés.
He takes us through some key pieces in this year's show, from lively, colourful pieces that draw attention to the RA's architecture, to major pieces by internationally-acclaimed artists.
